Definition

INTERACTION DESIGN is the discipline of defining the behaviour of products and systems that a user can
interact with.
The practice typically centres around complex technology systems such as software, mobile devices, and other electronic devices.

“Interaction design is about behaviour, how things work. I push a button on my mobile phone and something happens. Defining what happens when a person uses a product or service is what interaction designers do.”
– Dan Saffer

“Is interaction design just about technology, or can it involve other types of products?”
– Liz Danzico

“Most interaction designers work on software, websites, and other technology like mobile devices. But interaction designers can also design services which have little to no technology in them.”
– Dan Saffer
