{"id":8,"date":"2017-01-16T07:41:29","date_gmt":"2017-01-16T07:41:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/courses.haigarmen.com\/intd320\/?p=8"},"modified":"2017-11-15T21:50:50","modified_gmt":"2017-11-16T05:50:50","slug":"raspberrypi-03-connecting-rpi-to-wifi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/courses.haigarmen.com\/intd320\/raspberrypi-03-connecting-rpi-to-wifi\/","title":{"rendered":"RaspberryPi 03: Connecting RPi to WiFi"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Overview<\/h2>\n<p>For these tutorials we will not use the Emily Carr Wifi\u00a0network as it is problematic, instead we&#8217;ll be using my own network for this course, here is the login:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>SSID:\u00a0wifi network name:\u00a0<strong>ecu-ixd<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Password:\u00a0<strong>babelfish67<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To connect your Raspberry Pi to this network, you\u2019ll need to edit:<br \/>\n<code>\/etc\/wpa_supplicant\/wpa_supplicant.conf<\/code><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re going to use <strong><em>nano<\/em><\/strong> to do this. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nano-editor.org\/\"><em>Nano<\/em> is a text editor<\/a> for Unix-like computing systems or operating environments using a command line interface.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Type<br \/>\n<code> sudo nano \/etc\/wpa_supplicant\/wpa_supplicant.conf<\/code><\/li>\n<li>type or copy\/paste the following at the bottom\n<pre><code>network={\r\n    ssid=\"ecu-ixd\"\r\n    psk=\"password\"\r\n}\r\n<\/code><\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>press ctrl+o to save and ctrl+x to exit<\/li>\n<li>restart with\u00a0<code>sudo reboot<\/code>\n<ul>\n<li><em>the raspberry pi should now reboot and try to connect to the wifi network &#8211; check with lanscan or in your router&#8217;s setup panel like before<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>if the raspberry pi could connect to wifi, you can now disconnect the ethernet cable<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Now that we\u2019re connected to Wifi let\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/courses.haigarmen.com\/intd300\/rpi-04-connecting-to-rpi-via-ssh\/\">connect our computer to the RPI<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Overview For these tutorials we will not use the Emily Carr Wifi\u00a0network as it is problematic, instead we&#8217;ll be using my own network for this course, here is the login: SSID:\u00a0wifi network name:\u00a0ecu-ixd Password:\u00a0babelfish67 To connect your Raspberry Pi to this network, you\u2019ll need to edit: \/etc\/wpa_supplicant\/wpa_supplicant.conf We\u2019re going to use nano to do this.
